MEDePAL: Unified Healthcare Platform for Service Providers and Service Users

CIO Vendor In today's healthcare sector, advanced digital technology has become an integrated component. The development of mHealth applications has become an essential aspect of digital health with the growing use of smartphones worldwide. MEDePAL is one such mHealth application. Two senior IT industry professionals created Stellablue Interactive Services to solve one of the key challenges in the healthcare field: secure single point availability of relevant and actionable medical data throughout treatment life cycles. MEDePAL, the unified healthcare platform from Stellablue Interactive Services, was launched in April 2020.

Having quickly grown to be a platform of choice for many service providers and service users in Eastern India, it is now poised to spread its service across the country and beyond. Fully aligned with Govt. of India's National Digital Healthcare Blueprint, MEDePAL is ready with all the services outlined, from unique identification management to service access and delivery, to data fiduciary and data management services, to consent and anonymization management.

MEDePAL's unique advantage is that it provides all stakeholders with the ability to exchange relevant information seamlessly in real-time with all healthcare experiences on a common forum. MEDePAL tackles the key challenges such as single-point access and interaction and single point availability of appropriate actionable medical data. MEDePAL has been designed as a flexible ecosystem with functionalities for all participants in a healthcare domain. It can be used by patients, doctors, facilities, other service providers like pharmacies and diagnostic centers, and municipal or government healthcare systems for various purposes.
MEDePAL is also telehealth enabled and can facilitate remote access to healthcare. While every other platform has been developed to digitize a function or set of functions in the process of healthcare interaction, the methodology of MEDePAL is radically different in that it solves the twin problems of single-point access and data availability by all stakeholders in the healthcare process, including the patients and their families. To do that, MEDePAL has been designed as a unified healthcare ecosystem rather than a functional solution.

Well-Coordinated and Efficient Team of Professionals
The vision behind MEDePAL closely matches the NDHB. As a result, MEDePAL covers each of the building blocks described in the NDHB and is ready with 75- 80 percent of the features and functionalities described therein. The rest is in development, expected to be ready by mid-2021. The senior team at MEDePAL have been colleagues for many years prior to the company's founding and have worked together on multiple global projects. This experience and exposure have made the team very well-coordinated and efficient. It has significantly helped in the successful building and launch of the platform, both in terms of the product design and quality, as well as customer support.

MEDePAL has grown steadily since its launch in April 2020. The focus now is on building a 360-degree service aggregation to cater to any healthcare need. "We are preparing for a new round of fundraising, on completion of which the plan is to ramp up the marketing efforts and lead the platform towards rapid growth, both in India and globally." says Nirupam Chatterjee, Director, MEDePAL.
